Snus in the UK: what you're actually buying
Here's the thing almost nobody selling "snus" in Britain says out loud: real snus — the Swedish original, a moist oral tobacco — has been banned from sale in the UK since 1992. It cannot legally be sold here, at any price, by anyone. So what are all these UK "snus" shops selling?
Tobacco-free nicotine pouches. Same format, same use, no tobacco leaf — a white pouch of plant fibre, nicotine and flavouring, sometimes called "white snus". They're fully legal for adults 18+, they sit behind supermarket tills and all over the internet, and the word "snus" has simply come along for the ride because it's what everyone already knew to search for. If you typed "snus UK" and landed here: the legal product you're looking for is a nicotine pouch. Ours is 99p a can.

Why is snus banned in the UK?
The European Union banned the sale of oral tobacco in 1992, with a single carve-out negotiated by Sweden on accession — which is why real snus remains an everyday product in Stockholm and an illegal one in London. The UK kept the ban in its own law after leaving the EU. None of this touches nicotine pouches: with no tobacco in them, they fall outside the oral-tobacco ban entirely and are sold legally to adults across the UK.
What are they called? (All of these are the same product)
Snus, white snus, nicotine pouches, nic pouches, nicopods, pouches. Retailers lean on "snus" because that's the search habit; the can itself will say nicotine pouches. Whatever you call them, the product class is identical — and so, mostly, is the physical spec. A mainstream slim pouch weighs about 0.70g and comes 20 to a can whether the label says VELO, ZYN, Nordic Spirit or LUMI. What varies wildly is the price: £6.50 a can at the supermarket till, £2.45–£3.90 behind subscription hoops, or a flat 99p factory-direct.
