LUMI vs ZYN: the honest comparison

ZYN — owned by Philip Morris International, made in Sweden — runs two quite different products under one brand. Their Mini range is a dry pouch (about 3% moisture): slower release, less drip, genuinely preferred by some users. Their Slim range is a moist pouch at around 37% moisture. If someone tells you "ZYN is dry", they've only tried the Minis.

LUMI is a moist slim throughout — 42% moisture, so slightly moister than ZYN's Slim and in a different universe from their dry Minis. Same 0.70g pouch weight, same slim class. The main differences are moisture character, flavour philosophy and about £5.50 a can.

Where ZYN genuinely wins

If you specifically want a dry pouch — slower, more gradual, minimal drip — ZYN Mini owns that lane and we don't compete in it. Their flavour house style is also more understated: Black Cherry with vanilla, Citrus with lemongrass. Classy, if that's your thing.

Where LUMI wins

If you use ZYN Slim — the moist one — you're already using a pouch in LUMI's format class, at six and a half times the price. LUMI runs slightly moister (42% vs ~37%), covers a wider fixed ladder from 6mg to 17mg, and the 99p never moves: no maximum quantity, no 1-can caps, no subscription tier. ZYN's very best price — £2.45 a can — only unlocks with a 10-to-20-can subscription; even there, ours is well under half of it.

FAQs

Is ZYN a dry pouch?

Only the Mini range. ZYN Slim is a moist pouch (~37% moisture). LUMI is moist throughout at 42% — closest in character to ZYN Slim, moister than both ZYN formats.

Is LUMI the same strength as ZYN?

The ladders overlap. LUMI runs 6–17mg across five fixed tiers; ZYN runs 1.5–6mg in Minis and roughly 9–16.5mg in Slims. LUMI Menthol 17mg sits next to ZYN Menthol Ice 16.5mg at the top end.

Why is ZYN more expensive than LUMI?

ZYN is owned and marketed by one of the world's largest tobacco companies, and its lowest per-can price requires a 10-to-20-can subscription. LUMI sells directly from our own factory at one flat price — that's the entire difference.
